Roma forward Nicolo Zaniolo is expected to resume group training with the rest of the team, while club sporting director Tiago Pinto says he will talk about the player ‘at the right time’. Zaniolo was expected to leave Rome before the close of the transfer window, however a deadline day move to Bournemouth collapsed after the Premier League club pulled out of the transfer.
Speaking ahead of Roma’s 2-1 loss to Cremonese in last night’s Coppa Italia quarter-final’s, Tiago Pinto addressed the speculation and reports surrounding the player, saying:
“I don’t want to talk about Nicolò this evening, this is not the moment, we have a Coppa Italia quarter-final that is very important for us and we want to focus entirely on that.
“I understand that you have curiosity, but the right time will come when I will talk about this. The club wants to take a couple of days to fully evaluate the situation. It will probably be next week.”
La Gazzetta dello Sport report today that Zaniolo is looking for a peaceful resolution to the situation, but feels isolated from the rest of the team. He’s expected to return to training with the rest of the group tomorrow, however Roma have to submit their Europa League squad by midnight, and there is a strong likelihood that the Italy international will be excluded following his behaviour in recent weeks.
