Javier Zanetti, Inter Milan’s vice-president, recently shared his thoughts on various topics, including Lautaro Martinez’s seventh-place finish in the Ballon d’Or rankings. Speaking at the Sport Movies & TV 2024 event, Zanetti addressed the club’s performance and ambitions for the season.
Regarding the upcoming match against Napoli and the title race, Zanetti said, “I know Conte very well and how he works. They’re doing well. However, we’ll be there too. These are competitive and important matches. Both teams have great players, and we hope to compete until the end.”
When asked about Inter’s defensive performance, which has been strong in the Champions League but less impressive in Serie A, Zanetti responded, “Inter can compete to go all the way in all competitions. We’re working on this. The players are aware that we need to improve, and we’re working on it every day.”
The conversation then turned to Lautaro Martinez’s Ballon d’Or ranking. Zanetti expressed a shared sentiment of disappointment within the club, stating, “We all expected a better position, but it’s okay. These awards are like that. Lauti needs to stay calm because with everything he has shown with us and with Argentina, with everything he has won, he has received recognition. We are always by his side.”
