Zalewski to Galatasaray: Decisive hours as Turkish officials expected in Rome

Start

The future of Nicola Zalewski hangs in the balance as Galatasaray intensifies its pursuit of the Roma winger. With the Turkish transfer window closing on September 13, negotiations have entered a critical phase.

Calciomercato report how Galatasaray have been edging closer to Roma’s asking price of around €10 million  for the Polish international. While Zalewski had previously turned down a move to PSV Eindhoven in August, he now appears more open to a transfer to Turkey.

The situation has evolved rapidly in recent hours. Despite earlier denials from Zalewski’s entourage about a potential departure, the player has reportedly requested a salary of €2.5 million  per season—a significant increase from his current €350,000  at Roma. Galatasaray is prepared to offer €2 million  plus bonuses, making the move increasingly attractive for the 21-year-old.

Turkish club officials are expected to arrive in Rome imminently to finalize the deal. Galatasaray, having already secured Victor Osimhen, is keen to further strengthen their squad with Zalewski’s acquisition. Should negotiations with Roma fall through, the Turkish giants have identified Lazio’s Luca Pellegrini as an alternative target.

Zalewski’s decision to consider the move comes after realizing his playing time at Roma might be limited. The arrival of Alexis Saelemaekers and the return to fitness of Stephan El Shaarawy have increased competition for his position. Moreover, a potential tactical shift to a three-man defense would see Angeliño as another rival for the left flank.

With Zalewski’s contract set to expire in 2025, Roma have given the green light for his transfer. As the hours tick down, all eyes are on the Italian capital to see if this promising young talent will make the move to the Turkish Super Lig.
