AC Milan’s pursuit of Youssouf Fofana was a prolonged affair that dominated much of their summer transfer window. Despite the protracted negotiations, the French midfielder has quickly begun to demonstrate his value to the Rossoneri and believes his impact will only grow as he settles into his new surroundings.
Fofana’s arrival was seen as crucial in addressing Milan’s midfield issues from the previous season. While the transfer took longer than anticipated to materialize, the player has already shown flashes of his potential, even as he works to reach full fitness.
In a recent interview with Milan TV, Fofana shared his thoughts on joining the club and the recent derby victory against Inter. He expressed his satisfaction with his new environment, stating, “Everything here is as they described it to me: the locker room, the teammates, the enthusiasm in the city and also the fans. I have no regrets and I can’t wait to find out more.”
The midfielder praised the club’s management for easing his transition, particularly highlighting the support from Moncada, a fellow Frenchman. Fofana also mentioned his efforts to integrate with his new teammates, attempting to communicate in various languages including Italian, Spanish, and even German.
Reflecting on his current form, Fofana acknowledged the need for improvement: “Everyone knows the physical condition I arrived with in the summer and I am determined to get to 100 per cent as soon as possible. It’s not easy, but game after game I’ll try to do better and better and if I make progress it means I’m on the right path.”
The recent derby victory against Inter Milan left a strong impression on Fofana. He described the atmosphere as fantastic and viewed the win as a potential turning point for the team. “Given the results we were coming from, beating Inter can mean a new beginning. It’s a good starting point and I hope we can build on it to get as high as possible,” he enthused.
