New Juventus signing Timothy Weah explained that his dad being a big fan of the club made his decision all the easier. The 23-year-old is the son of AC Milan legend and current Liberian President George Weah, a self-confessed Juventino who famously won the Ballon d’or during his time with the Rossoneri. Speaking in his first interview with the clubs official TV channel, the younger Weah talked about his excitement at joining the Old Lady, what he can bring to the team and his preferred position of play:
“I’m thrilled, honoured and happy. It is a dream come true. Juve is one of the best clubs in the world, I am overjoyed to be a Bianconero.”
“Why Juve? The club, the history, the players, the coach and staff. The trust everyone has placed in me, I feel at home here. The fans came to greet me before the visits. I am happy, I feel at home and can’t wait to start.”
“My father’s time at AC Milan is part of my family history. And it was a very important period, now his son has the chance to play in Serie A and to play at one of the most important clubs. It is wonderful. And it is one of his favorite teams; he is a big Juventus fan. That made my choice easier.”
“My Characteristics and role? I am a very intense player who loves to run, cross and provide assists. I think I will fit in best with my teammates. I hope I can help them score many goals. I am a hard worker and I will work for the team without sparing myself. I have a favorite role, which is as a wing-back. I think I will play there, it is a new role for me but I really like it. I have played as a striker and on the wing, I think it will help me a lot. I am ready to play wherever the coach will put me.”
