Weah: ‘Its a blessing to play for Juventus’

Start

New Juventus signing Timothy Weah says it’s a ‘blessing’ to play for Juventus and that he felt the fans love from the first day. Speaking on the club’s official Twitch channel, the USMNT shared his first impressions of joining the Bianconeri and what he expects for the season ahead:

“It’s a blessing to play for such a beautiful club,” Weah said, speaking to the fans on Twitch. “Now I just have to adapt and do what I can do.

“A few months before getting the call from Juve I was playing football on my video game console, and my player was on Juventus. Then when I was told that Juve were coming to watch me and I played really well – it was something in the air that day. Once they were interested I knew I was gonna do whatever it took to get here.”

“The fans? They’re amazing. From the first day here I felt the love and I didn’t expect so many supporters to come and see me for my medical.

“The passion they showed me in the comments was beautiful so I can’t wait to see the Stadium, I already know how it’s going to be. I just know it’s going to be loud and I can’t wait to meet everyone.”

“Nicknames? It really doesn’t matter [what people call me]. I got used to everybody calling me Timmo. My mom did it first and then I went to Celtic and it became a huge thing there, so I let everybody call me that. But I’m cool with whatever.”

“Teammates? Weston McKennie is my guy. He’s crazy. But I realised that all the staff and players here are extremely nice so I felt welcome from the first day.

“Having Weston here helps because he speaks English and that’s my guy with the national team. But the guys like Moise [Kean] and the French guys make it easier.

“If I have to pick a favourite teammate already it’s Weston because I’ve known him for years and we have super close relationship, but also Moise and Federico Gatti. I like Fede, he’s very genuine and I play right beside him. He’s always willing to help me and when you move to a new club it’s always a beautiful thing to have that in a teammate.”

“My first Juve goal is definitely gonna be from a ball over the top from Loca. He’s always pinging me in behind so I already know that I’m gonna make that run and he’s gonna play me. He just has that Italian class on the ball.”
