“We are Keen to Win”: Rovella Previews Lazio’s Match Against Monza

Start

Ahead of the Lazio’s match against Monza, midfielder Nicolò Rovella spoke to the club’s official channels for the match program, sharing his thoughts on the upcoming game and his experiences with the Biancocelesti.

Rovella emphasized the importance of the match, especially in light of Fiorentina’s recent victory over Inter. “We know that a very important match awaits us, especially after Fiorentina’s win against Inter. We are keen to win in front of our fans and we are preparing for the match against Monza in the best possible way,” he stated.

When questioned about Lazio’s better away form compared to their home record, Rovella dismissed it as coincidental. “I believe it’s just a coincidence because the performances have always been there, both at home and away. Maybe we’ve had some lapses in concentration that cost us some points. That’s why we’ll have to be focused right from the start because Sunday won’t be an easy game,” he explained.

Reflecting on his time at Monza, Rovella expressed gratitude for the experience. “I was very fortunate because when I was at Monza, President Berlusconi was still there, along with Galliani of course. Palladino was also fundamental, together they helped me a lot and gave me confidence. All this gave me an extra boost and I still want to thank the President, even if he’s no longer here. Sometimes I still hear from Galliani. Monza will always remain a fundamental stage in my growth,” he shared.

Rovella also spoke warmly about his midfield partnership with Mattéo Guendouzi. “He’s the opposite of how he appears on the field. Guendo off the pitch is kind and funny, he makes a lot of jokes, we have a great bond. We arrived at Lazio together, we were new and this strengthened our friendship. We interpret football in the same way, we get along very well,” he said, jokingly adding, “Him with short hair? Oh God, I don’t know! I think it’s impossible to cut it.”

On the topic of new signings, Rovella, despite his young age, considers himself one of the more experienced players in the squad. “I was thinking about it just yesterday, maybe I’m now one of the two or three oldest here at Lazio. Three strong and promising players have arrived, and coach Baroni’s skill will help them quickly get into the mechanisms of his game. We will certainly give them a hand too,” he stated.

Rovella also shared his excitement about receiving compliments from Lazio legend Juan Sebastián Verón. “Some time ago I read an interview where Veron complimented me and Guendouzi. It was something special, we’re talking about a fantastic player. I hope to meet him one day. My father, a huge fan of his, went crazy, he immediately sent me the article. I thank him from the heart,” Rovella said, adding that he also keeps in touch with another Lazio great, Lucas Leiva.
