Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic says his aim for next season is to score more and more goals for the Old Lady. The 22-year-old Serbian forward arrived in January and scored nine goals in 21 appearances last season, but says he has set his aims higher.
Speaking to a number of Italian publications, as compiled by Calciomercato.com, the striker talked about his time in Turin so far and his new teammates:
I read that in the last 10-12 years the top scorer has never won the Scudetto, however, there is always a first time, right?
Team goals come before personal ones, it’s more important for Juve to win, but if I score 30 goals and we become champions of Italy then that’s fine with me.
The move? It wasn’t a difficult choice because Juve are a glorious club, very close to my way of working, fighting, never giving up until the end, believing even when it seems all is lost is my philosophy and also the club’s.
We all know what Juve represents in Italy, for me it’s a pleasure and an honour to defend these colours.
Pogba? Paul likes to give people nicknames and it’s fine with me if he likes it. I only knew him from TV, he had a great impact on the team, he’s a world champion who has already won so much in his years at Juve, besides the Europa League with Manchester United. It’s great to have him with us.
Di Maria? When I heard he was coming I immediately thought about how many goals and assists we’d produce together, because I also want him to score.
Angel has been playing for a long time at a very high level, he’s one of the strongest wingers of the last 20 years and has done very well wherever he has gone. Until recently I saw these champions on TV, playing with them was my goal when I was a kid.
With Di Maria we have to get to know each other and understand each other a little bit, but I’m sure it won’t be difficult for him. He has played with great strikers, I’m the one who has to ask him how I have to move so he can find me.
Me and Lewandowski? He has scored an avalanche of goals, I don’t like to compare myself to anyone. I am only at the beginning, I can only work in the hope that I can reach them.
My goal is to score more and more goals. The differences between us and the old strikers are there, but I leave the judgments to others.
I definitely needed some time to settle in, however, I could have done better. I am not satisfied because we lost a final.
We qualified for the Champions but I could and should have done more, so we’re working hard for next season. I’m young and I can improve at everything. At 35 you can grow, let alone at 22.
I don’t like to make excuses, if I went on the pitch it means I could play. I had a problem that I had been carrying for a long time, since before I came to Juve.
At the end of the season I wanted to recover as best I could, I had to say no to the national team even though I was very disappointed.
This summer I only dedicated myself to getting better, I made a journey to be 100% ready. Now I feel good and I will be at the top shortly.
Bremer? It’s a great pleasure to have him at Juve, he is the strongest defender in Serie A. After a season in which we won nothing, our duty is to have the goal of winning everything.”
