Former Inter striker Christian Vieri believes the team are creating chances, but the strikers are letting down the team with their lack of finishing. The former Nerazzurri man seemed to be aiming a dig at Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku who has disappointed since his return to Milan, missing a series of chances during Inter’s 2-1 loss to Spezia on Friday.
The Nerazzurri are rooted in second place in the table, but now face a contest to keep their footing, while Napoli have streaked 18 points clear in the title race. There’s also the possibility of Juventus recovering their 15-point penalty, which could make qualification for next seasons Champions League even more complicated.
Speaking on BoboTV (as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb), Vieri talked about the issues his former club are facing, in particular, their profligacy in front of goal:
“Inter create 10 chances per game at home, they play well. You have Dumfries who crosses, Dimarco who crosses, you have Barella….
“You have players putting Lukaku in a good position. I’ll tell you one thing, if I played for this Inter team, I would win top scorer every year.”
