Victor Osimhen could move in January transfer window

Start

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, is a key target for Manchester United as the January transfer window approaches. Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano has indicated that there is a possibility of Osimhen changing clubs during this period, although no formal negotiations have progressed yet.

Manchester United have faced a challenging season in the Premier League, highlighted by their recent 2-2 draw against Liverpool. Following the appointment of Ruben Amorim as manager, the team has struggled to find consistent form. The attacking lineup, featuring players like Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, has underperformed, managing only five goals collectively in the league.

Osimhen’s name has emerged in discussions about potential reinforcements for United. Reports suggest that a swap deal involving Marcus Rashford could be on the table, as Rashford’s role at Old Trafford has diminished under Amorim’s management. Romano stated that while there is a chance for Osimhen to move, current discussions are still in their infancy.

The Nigerian forward has been performing well at Galatasaray, contributing significantly to their success with 13 goals and three assists in just 16 matches. His impressive form has renewed interest from top clubs, particularly Manchester United, who are keen to bolster their attacking options.

Osimhen’s loan agreement includes a break clause that allows for a potential early exit if a club activates his release clause. Napoli reportedly set this clause at €90 million but rumors suggest it could be lowered to €75 million to facilitate a transfer. As Osimhen considers his future, it appears he is eager to return to a top European league after his stint in Turkey.

With preliminary talks reportedly underway, both Osimhen and Manchester United seem motivated to finalize a deal that could see him don the Red Devils’ colours in January. The coming weeks will be crucial as United aims to strengthen their squad and improve their standing in the league.
