The agent of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicari has confirmed that Roma are interested in him, but so are a number of other Serie A sides. The 26-year-old has enjoyed another solid season in Tuscany with Gli Azzurri and looks poised to make the step up to a bigger team this summer. Speaking with Pagine Romaniste, agent Gabriele Giuffrida addressed the transfer rumours that are circulating around his client, and explained why Hamed Junior Traore could have joined the Giallorossi in the last summer transfer window:
How is Guglielmo? I saw that he should be called up, is he recovering?
“Yes, he is recovering slowly, he is better.”
Is it true about Roma’s interest in Vicario?
“For now there are only talks, not only from Roma but also from many important Serie A clubs. It wouldn’t be fair to deny it. Everyone has been interested, he is a very popular name among goalkeepers. We have had contacts with the Giallorossi, but for now it’s just speculation, what is certain is that he has many admirers.”
Have foreign clubs also been interested in him?
“Yes, even foreign clubs have been interested.”
Basically, could a goalkeeper domino effect be triggered?
“I don’t know, the market in Italy is not easy, especially given the economic situation. The Juventus situation which has yet to be clarified has an impact on the standings. It’s yet to be seen whether it will affect other teams. It is not easy to make everything fit in the Italian market.”
Were the Hamed Traorè-Roma rumours in the weeks right after the end of the market true?
“A possibility had been sparked, but it did not go through. It could have been a domino effect with Zaniolo and Traore being dealt with by the same team. Then it went the way it did, it was a past option.”
