Venezia manager Eusebio Di Francesco addressed the media in a post-match press conference following his team’s draw against Parma. The coach discussed the match outcome, transfer market plans, and individual player performances.
Di Francesco expressed regret over the result, stating, “The pity is that we scored on ourselves due to naivety. I invite everyone to look at the lineup that took the field; we had no substitutions and had to use fullbacks as Center-backs. I can only compliment these boys, who put in a sacrificial performance. We had an excellent first half, and I expected a drop in the second half. But the shame is that we complicated the game for ourselves; we needed to hold out for the first ten minutes of the second half.”
Addressing the club’s transfer market strategy, Di Francesco revealed, “We are working with Director Antonelli; we want to bring in players for the defensive department, as only Idzes remains. We need something in that area; we’ve also lost Sverko since the Inter game. I’m satisfied with what the boys have done, but the transfer market is part of the moment. It’s not helping us with players like Candela, who is about to leave but started today.”
The manager also praised goalkeeper Stankovic’s performance, particularly highlighting a spectacular save: “How Hernani struck that ball! It’s illegal to shoot like that from so far out. It wasn’t easy to shoot like that, nor to save it – it was the most difficult save. The others were interventions from an attentive goalkeeper who manages to give serenity to the defence. Now, compared to the beginning, thanks to the trust placed in him, he has found confidence and is showing great consistency. I wish him the best, but he must continue to work with great humility.”
