Udinese are on the verge of completing another January transfer window acquisition as they close in on Valentín Gómez from Vélez Sarsfield. The Italian club has accelerated their pursuit of the young defender, partly due to the injury of Touré, and are now in the final stages of securing his signature.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the 21-year-old left-back, born in 2003, is currently in the process of terminating his contract with Vélez Sarsfield. Once this is finalized, Gómez is expected to sign an 18-month contract with Udinese, marking his first venture into European football.
Gómez has been a regular fixture for Vélez, making 43 appearances for the Argentine club last season. His imminent arrival continues Udinese’s tradition of recruiting talent from Argentina, following in the footsteps of Lautaro Giannetti who recently joined the Italian side.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Gómez is scheduled to depart South America for Friuli Venezia Giulia on Thursday, January 29, 2025. This move reinforces Udinese’s commitment to bolstering their squad with young, promising talent as they look to strengthen their defensive options for the remainder of the season and beyond.
