Gianluca Nani, the transfer market specialist for both Udinese and Watford, recently shared his thoughts on the past year and the upcoming transfer window. In an interview with TMW, Nani provided insights into the performance of both clubs and their plans for the future.

Reflecting on 2024, Nani expressed personal satisfaction, stating, “From a personal point of view, it was a good 2024.” He then delved into the specifics of each club’s performance.

For Watford, Nani highlighted a strong second half of the season, noting, “Regarding Watford, the second part of the season was positive. We are in the playoff zone and playing for the big Premier League card.” This suggests that Watford is in a favorable position to compete for promotion to the top flight of English football.

Udinese’s year was more of a mixed bag, according to Nani. “For Udinese, the first part was difficult, but the second has started great,” he explained. Looking forward, he added, “We hope that 2025 will be good for everyone, regardless of football.”

When asked about the upcoming transfer market for both teams, Nani hinted at potential player movements: “I expect some players will go to play, both from Udinese and Watford.” He also emphasized the Pozzo family’s philosophy of staying ahead of the competition, revealing, “We are working for June,” suggesting a focus on summer transfers rather than the January window.

Addressing speculation about Lorenzo Lucca, a rising star at Udinese, Nani was firm: “We are not considering offers. He is in a growth phase and is perfectly involved in the project. He’s a strong player and, like all such players, attracts interest.”

Turning his attention to the Serie A title race, Nani offered his perspective on the contenders. “Juve and Milan are lagging behind. Atalanta has the enthusiasm of the first time,” he observed. He then highlighted Inter Milan’s experience, stating, “Inter is used to this kind of performance, and there are good reasons why they can think about winning again.” Nani didn’t forget to mention the defending champions, adding, “And then there’s Napoli, who have a great guide on the bench in addition to having an excellent squad.”
