Tuttosport: Milan Eye Zirkzee Amid Potential Departure of Star Players

Start

AC Milan’s summer transfer plans are taking shape, with the club targeting reinforcements upfront while also bracing for the potential departure of key players, according to a report from Tuttosport.

The Rossoneri’s primary objective, as outlined by Tuttosport via MilanNews, is to conclude the current season on a high note, aiming to make significant strides in the Europa League and secure a second-place finish in Serie A. However, attention is already turning to the upcoming transfer window, where important decisions await.

At the top of Milan’s wishlist for the summer is Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee, who has impressed during his loan spell at Bologna this season. However, securing Zirkzee’s services may prove to be a complex task due to Bayern Munich’s involvement.

Bayern Munich holds a €40 million buy-back clause for Zirkzee, and even if they opt not to exercise it, they are entitled to 40% of any future transfer fee. Consequently, Bologna is likely to demand a significant fee, with a minimum valuation of €60 million mooted.

Given Bayern’s interest in some of Milan’s key assets, including goalkeeper Mike Maignan and full-back Theo Hernandez, the Rossoneri may explore the possibility of negotiating directly with the Bundesliga giants. Both Maignan and Hernandez, although integral to Milan’s setup, are not considered off-limits for the right offer.

Maignan’s contract runs until 2026, and talks of a renewal have stalled as the shot-stopper seeks parity with teammate Rafael Leao’s salary. Similarly, Hernandez’s deal also expires in 2026, and his agent may push for a similar wage demand. With Bayern potentially seeking replacements for Manuel Neuer and Alphonso Davies, Milan could find themselves in a favorable position for negotiations.

In the event of a substantial offer, Milan may entertain the prospect of a deal involving Zirkzee, potentially offering cash plus the Dutch striker in exchange for one of Bayern’s French stars.
