Francesco Totti, the legendary former captain of Roma, recently shared his thoughts on the club’s future and his own potential return to football during an interview in Dubai. Totti was in attendance for the finals of the EA7 World Legends Padel Tour, where he spoke candidly about various topics, including the return of Claudio Ranieri as head coach of Roma.

In a positive tone, Totti expressed his belief in Roma’s ability to rebound from their current challenges. “Slowly but surely, I believe we will recover,” he stated, referring to a recent match that showcased the team’s potential. He emphasized the importance of Ranieri’s leadership, noting, “We all know the significance of this coach. Beyond being Roman and a fan of Roma, he brings many positive qualities.”

As discussions about his own future arose, Totti addressed speculation regarding his return to the club. He mentioned that Ranieri would have a significant role in decision-making as he transitions into a managerial position next year. “He will be a director at Roma next year, so he will have a say in who to call,” Totti explained. Despite rumors, he confirmed that they had not yet communicated about his potential involvement.

Reflecting on his friendship with Daniele De Rossi, who recently praised Totti as the most talented player he has ever played with, Totti acknowledged their unique bond. “De Rossi is one of the greatest players in Roma’s history,” he said.

Totti also commented on the current Serie A title race, expressing surprise at the competitive landscape. “I didn’t expect such confusion at the top positions. It’s nice; there is competitiveness,” he remarked. He hopes that the title race remains intense until the end of the season and noted that while Atalanta could contend, teams like Inter, Napoli, and Juventus have an edge.

On the national team front, Totti expressed optimism about Italy’s prospects in upcoming competitions. “They can do great things. We hope so as Italians, especially to show that we are one of the most important teams in the world,” he said.

Lastly, regarding Alessandro Del Piero’s potential candidacy for the presidency of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), Totti stated, “If he were to make this choice, we would all be happy. He is a genuine and clean person.” As for his own future in football, Totti concluded with an open-ended statement: “When will I return? Let’s see; we will evaluate it; we have time.”
