Totti: “No Hard Feelings Towards Dybala – Return to Roma? Not with these owners”

Start

Francesco Totti set the record straight regarding his comments over Paulo Dybala and dismissed the suggestion of a return to Roma.  The Giallorossi legend returned to speak in a live Instagram session for Sportmediaset, clarifying some remarks he previously made:

How do you see this season? Has Inter already won?

“Let’s say they have a nice advantage over the second. It’s hardly possible for them to lose the Scudetto; it depends a lot on the Nerazzurri.”

Francesco, did you expect this start from your friend De Rossi?

“I didn’t expect it, but I hoped for it. De Rossi is a serious and caring person. What he’s doing is truly great, and I hope he can continue for a long time.”

Your comments on Dybala have sparked many controversies.

“I’m not a manager of Roma, Inter, or Juve. I’m a football fan, of Roma in this case. I can say whatever I want; I’ll speak my mind. I expressed this not against Dybala. I’ve always defended Dybala, and for me, he’s the most technically skilled player on the team. When he’s absent, his absence is felt. They asked me a question: if I were a manager. And I said I’d consider it because if he plays 50% of the games in two years, I’d consider it. Then, if they want to blow things out of proportion, so be it. I have nothing against Dybala; I was the first to bring him to Roma.”

From Mourinho to De Rossi, what do you think of the Special One?

“I’ll always speak highly of Mourinho; along with Ancelotti, he’s won the most trophies and is one of the greatest of all time. We just have to thank him for what he gave us, for the two finals. Thanks, Mou, for coaching Roma.”

Would you like to become a coach like De Rossi?

“No, it’s not in my thoughts, honestly.”

You don’t really see yourself in Roma anymore?

“Not with this management. If they had wanted to find me, they would have. If one day it happens, so be it; I would never say no to Roma. If the right time comes, I’ll return. Is the door open? It doesn’t depend on me; it’s pointless to keep asking.”

Spalletti’s national team and the Euros

“I know the coach and I know the desire he has and the spirit he can instill in the players. We can go all the way, and he will try to make a great impression. He calls up many talents; there’s not one in particular that I can mention. Spalletti’s strength is the group; he always gives you an identity.”
