Roma legend Francesco Totti says he is ‘confident’ with Jose Mourinho in charge of the Giallorossi. Speaking in a post-match interview with DAZN following Roma’s 3-1 loss to Atalanta (as quoted by RomaPress) , Totti took the opportunity to praise Mourinho’s work and also touched on the prospect of returning to the club as director once again:
“Roma are two different teams in one: one team performs well in Europe, while the other has ups and downs in the league.
“Rui Patricio? In football mistakes can happen, the problem is that when the goalkeeper is wrong you have no excuses. Rui Patricio has saved many games and he should only be complimented, he is a goalkeeper of international status.”
“Pellegrini? He’s understood the importance of the captain’s armband. I’m very happy for him. We spoke recently, I tried to cheer him up after the missed penalty with Feyenoord.”
(Addressing Mourinho) “After what you said, I am now even more confident that with you at the helm we can go far in both the Champions League and the Europa League.”
“I am proud of you, of what you said and of the team, we are all behind you to cheer you on more and more because you deserve it.”
“Being a director again? I’ve always maintained that it takes two to tango, It doesn’t depend on me, but I think that sitting down, having a cup of coffee and talking about different things is doable.”
