Roma legend Francesco Totti praised midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini, and admits that he didn’t expects Daniele De Rossi to have such an immediate impact. Speaking at the Betsson.sport event at Officine Farneto, where he serves as an ambassador, Totti expressed admiration for Pellegrini’s leadership qualities, stating:
“After De Rossi, it was difficult to find another captain. I had already said that Lorenzo is a true captain, a Roman.”
Totti’s admiration extends to another Roma stalwart, Daniele De Rossi, who has transitioned seamlessly into coaching with impressive results. Reflecting on De Rossi’s performance as Roma’s coach, Totti remarked, “I didn’t expect him to do so well immediately, but I hoped for it. He is proving to be a great coach, and like all Roma fans, I hope he continues at this level.” Totti emphasized the challenges of managing a club like Roma and praised De Rossi’s ability to navigate them successfully.
Looking ahead to Roma’s Europa League quarter-final clash against Milan, Totti expressed confidence in Roma’s prospects despite acknowledging Milan’s resurgence. He commented, “The Rossoneri are in good form, with 3-4 quality players back in the fold. It will be a beautiful challenge, and I hope Roma progresses. While Milan may have their European DNA, they are not the Milan of old.”
