Roma legend Francesco Totti believes the Giallorossi should consider the future of Paulo Dybala: ‘He’s a top player but he only manages fifteen games a year.’ Totti was speaking with Il Corriere dello Sport, and shared his thoughts on the rich vein of form the club currently find themselves in, but began with Dybala, who is currently out injured:
“We’re talking about a top player,” said the former number ten, “but concerning the future, we need to understand what the club wants to do and what goals it has for the next season. If I were a manager, I would think carefully about what to do with a player who plays 15 games a year. If I have an important goal to achieve and one of the most important players only steps onto the field for a third of the matches, I need to reflect on that.”
“De Rossi? Since Daniele arrived the players have changed, they have more desire and more stimulation. They have changed their mentality. To win matches you need the right head and the right desire, so I think Daniele has made a strong contribution to this change. Things have changed since Mourinho’s dismissal and with the arrival of Daniele. But I think the coach counts up to a certain point because then the ones who take to the field are always the players, and if they have the desire and conviction to do well, anything can happen.”
“The derby against Lazio? Daniele will experience it as he always did as a player. We have both always experienced it differently from everyone else.”
