In a surprising turn of events, AC Milan’s defensive stalwart Fikayo Tomori is reportedly close to joining Tottenham Hotspur. The Premier League club has made a substantial offer of €30 million, including bonuses, for the English centre-back, and the deal appears to be in its final stages.
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Milan have shown openness to the transfer under these terms, indicating that negotiations are at an advanced stage. Tottenham have successfully outmanoeuvred Aston Villa in the race for Tomori’s signature and are now working diligently to finalize the deal, which would see the defender return to the Premier League.
This potential move comes as part of a larger shake-up at AC Milan, with the club also in talks to transfer Alvaro Morata to Galatasaray and Francesco Camarda to Monza. The departure of Tomori would mark a significant change in Milan’s defensive lineup.
Interestingly, Juventus had also shown interest in Tomori earlier. The Turin-based club had attempted to secure the former Chelsea player on a loan deal with an obligation to buy, offering a total package of €25 million. This included a €5 million loan fee and a further €20 million for the mandatory purchase clause. While the financial difference between Juventus’ offer and Milan’s valuation was minimal, Tomori’s preference to remain with the Rossoneri at that time prevailed.
Now, with Tottenham’s more substantial offer on the table and Milan’s willingness to sell, it seems Tomori’s time in Serie A might be coming to an end.
