Torino’s Transfer Window Heats Up: Cairo Speaks on Signings and Squad

Start

Torino FC president Urbano Cairo has provided insights into the club’s transfer activities following their recent victory against Cagliari. The Granata chief expressed optimism about ongoing negotiations and outlined the team’s priorities for the remainder of the transfer window.

Cairo began by praising the performance of Yann Karamoh, who hit the crossbar during the match. “Karamoh is doing very well, making a great contribution to the team both defensively and offensively,” Cairo stated. When asked about a potential contract renewal for the player, he affirmed, “Yes, yes, he’s doing well. I’m happy.”

The president also commended Nikola Vlasic’s excellent game, noting his impact from his very first touch of the ball.

Regarding the club’s transfer strategy, Cairo was clear about his intentions: “I want to make moves, obviously intelligent ones. There are many negotiations underway, perhaps too many. Now we’re going to close them. We don’t want to wait until the very last day of the market.”

Cairo emphasized that the team is well-equipped in defense and midfield but acknowledged the need for a striker. “It’s not trivial, but we’re working to succeed,” he explained.

When questioned about potential departures, particularly concerning Ivan Ilic, Cairo was firm: “I don’t know, but I don’t want anyone to leave.”

The Torino president also addressed the situation of Antonio Sanabria, confirming the forward’s place in the squad. “Yes, Sanabria is staying. He has always done well with us. He’s a quality striker who had a 12-goal season. He always scores when he’s with the national team. He’s not playing today, but he played before and will play again.”
