Torino’s interest in Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei has taken a significant step forward as the Italian club’s sporting director, Davide Vagnati, made a swift trip to London to accelerate negotiations. Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Serie A side is keen to secure the services of the 21-year-old midfielder, who has struggled to find regular playing time in the Premier League this season.
Vagnati’s London visit included a personal meeting with Casadei and his brother, during which the Torino executive expressed the club’s strong desire to bring the young talent to Turin. This direct approach appears to have made a positive impression on Casadei, who is reportedly receptive to the move.
While discussions with the player seem promising, Torino still faces the challenge of reaching an agreement with Chelsea. The Italian club has already tabled an initial offer of €9 million plus bonuses, along with a 40% sell-on clause. However, this proposal falls short of Chelsea’s valuation, with the London club holding out for a higher fee.
Despite the current gap in valuations, there is a sense of optimism surrounding the potential transfer. Negotiations are expected to continue in the coming days, as Chelsea has not yet given the green light for Casadei’s departure.
The midfielder’s situation at Chelsea has been challenging, with no Premier League appearances to his name this season under manager Enzo Maresca. His limited playing time has been restricted to six appearances in the Conference League and League Cup competitions.
