Torino to open negotiations with Roma for Eldor Shomurodov

Start

Torino look set to formally begin negotiations with Roma as they seek to acquire Eldor Shomurodov this January.

Shomurodov, 27, has played six matches in Serie A this season, with Tammy Abraham and Stephen El Shawaary being José Mourinho’s trusted striking options. The Uzbeki striker has scored six goals for Roma since he signed from Genoa in 2021.

Rumours have been simmering for some weeks regarding this potential transfer, and the move now appears to be coming to a boil.

According to Tuttosport, Roma general manager Tiago Pinto will meet with Shomurodov’s representatives and Torino’s sporting director, Davide Vagnati, in the coming days.

The aim is to finalise an initial six-month loan with an obligation-to-buy clause included.

With Roma eager to sign Sassuolo’s Davide Fratessi, there is the requirement to sell players before any incoming transfers can be completed. Along with Shomurodov, Rick Karsdorp has been linked with a move to Juventus and Monza and has already ceased involvement in training sessions at Roma. Matias Vina is reportedly close to signing for La Liga outfit Real Betis.
