Torino Secure Defensive Reinforcement with Biraghi Acquisition from Fiorentina

Start

Torino have made a significant move in the final hours of the winter transfer window, securing their third signing of the season with the acquisition of Cristiano Biraghi from Fiorentina. This transfer follows the earlier arrivals of Eljif Elmas and Cesare Casadei, demonstrating Torino’s ambition to strengthen their squad.

Calciomercato report how Biraghi, who hasn’t featured for Fiorentina in Serie A since November 3rd, ironically against Torino at the Olimpico Grande Torino, is set to fill the void left by Mergim Vojvoda’s departure to Como for just under 2 million euros.

The 32-year-old defender will join Torino on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. His arrival is expected to create healthy competition for the left-back position with Borna Sosa, potentially elevating the team’s defensive options.

This move marks an early end to Biraghi’s contract with Fiorentina, which was originally set to expire in June 2026. The Italian international had fallen out of favour at his former club, losing his starting position to Robin Gosens and Fabiano Parisi.

With his experience at clubs like Inter and Pescara, Biraghi brings a wealth of Serie A knowledge to Paolo Vanoli’s squad. As Torino aims to improve their league standing, Biraghi’s addition could prove crucial in bolstering their defensive line for the remainder of the season and beyond.
