Torino’s president, Urbano Cairo, addressed the media following the “Memorial Mamma e Papà Cairo” semifinal between Torino and Milan, where Torino’s Primavera team triumphed 5-1. Cairo provided an update on the ongoing negotiations for Robin Gosens with Union Berlin, highlighting the challenges faced in securing the player’s transfer.
“I know that Gosens is still thinking about it. He hasn’t given his availability to come; he’s there thinking. When you think too much, it becomes difficult to make decisions. He’s still there pondering because he’s unsure if it’s the right choice; the coach wants him there. These things, when they drag on, become difficult, and we have to move forward. I like Gosens; it’s evident. We’ve been talking to him for three months.
“It started because his agent mentioned him to us, and we were thrilled. We said, ‘Great, let’s get Gosens.’ We’ve had discussions with him and his agent. What we know now is that he’s flattered but not decisive. The transfer market is closing soon, and the championship is starting, and we can’t wait… It’s not a problem of salary but of conviction. If there’s no conviction, it’s not to be done,” Cairo stated.
Torino has given an ultimatum to Gosens, urging him to make a decision in the coming hours. If he does not commit, the club will shift its focus to other targets to strengthen their left flank.
