La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Sandro Tonali has denied introducing Nicolò Fagioli to an illegal betting app. The pair have been investigated by the Turin Public Prosecutors office, with both players having admitted to placing bets on football matches over the years.
Fagioli has been handed a 12-month ban by the FIGC, with five months of the sentence commuted due a plea bargain from the Juventus youngster. As part of his deposition, Fagioli reportedly revealed that he was introduced to the illegal betting app by Tonali, something the Newcastle United midfielder has denied. La Gazzetta report that Tonali is adamant that he not bring anyone else into his gambling and is now working with the FIGC to agree his own plea bargain.
Tonali is expected to have confirmation of his sentence next week, with his lawyers set to meet FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chinè on Monday October 23 to finalise the details of his plea.
