TMW: Ultras Investigation – Inzaghi, Calabria, and Skriniar face potential suspension

Start

In a significant development following the recent police operation that led to 19 arrests of Inter and AC Milan ultras leaders, new details have emerged that could have serious implications for some players and staff of both clubs. While not currently under investigation, certain club members may face consequences due to their interactions with ultras groups.

TMW report that the Federal Prosecutor’s Office has requested investigation files from Milan prosecutors to examine the conduct of club members in relation to ultras. Initial wiretaps have revealed the names of Inter coach Simone Inzaghi, AC Milan captain Davide Calabria, and former Inter player Milan Skriniar, now with PSG.

FIGC investigators will scrutinize phone calls involving Inzaghi and meetings held by Skriniar and Calabria with ultras leaders. The focus will be on the nature of these conversations and whether any intimidation occurred.

The sporting justice code strictly regulates relationships between club members and organized fan groups. Article 25 prohibits clubs from financing organized groups and forbids club members from interacting with supporters in ways that could be seen as intimidating, offensive, or demeaning.

Violations of these rules can result in fines and suspensions. For players, this could mean a ban of one or more matches, with particularly serious cases leading to at least a four-match suspension. Managers could face temporary bans from their duties.

Even if club members are found guilty, Inter and AC Milan are unlikely to face objective responsibility penalties, meaning they should avoid point deductions. However, the investigation highlights the complex and sometimes problematic relationship between clubs, players, and their most passionate supporters.
