Former Roma director Tiago Pinto believes Paulo Fonseca deserves a chance to show what he can do with Milan. Former Lille coach Fonseca is close to signing a contract with the Rossoneri, with just the official announcement pending. Speaking with Di Marzio.com, Pinto explained what his compatriot can bring to Milan, following his successful spell in Ligue 1:
Pinto’s Opinion
“This move to Italy is an opportunity he deserves. Paulo Fonseca did an incredible job at Lille during a period of significant change, when the team had lost half of its players upon his arrival. He managed to have two spectacular years with great results, including a strong European campaign, but most notably, with a very attractive style of play that was praised by everyone. That’s why, today, joining a club like Milan is something he truly deserves.”
Fonseca’s Merits
“He has a very strong imprint on the style of play he wants to implement. I am absolutely certain that things will go well. The club is also a great organization, with competent people, a good squad, fantastic fans, and I think it has everything needed to succeed. Teams coached by Paulo Fonseca have always had a strong identity: attacking and dynamic football. He is also known for his ability to develop players, especially young ones. In every club, players have improved, grown, and matured under his method of working. Moreover, he is truly a person with superior human values and qualities. This makes him a relatively easy coach to work with for a director or president, depending on the club’s structure,” he said.
