Thierry Henry: “If You Face Inter in the Champions League, You’re in Trouble”

Start

Former Arsenal and Barcelona striker Thierry Henry says any side that draws Inter in the Champions League will be in trouble. The Nerazzurri are cruising towards the Scudetto while also proving to be a force to be reckoned with in the Champions League. Speaking with Sky Sport, Henry shared his thoughts on coach Simone Inzaghi and why he believe’s Inter are a tough nut to crack this season:

“I’ve been following Inzaghi for a long time, since his days coaching Lazio. He’s one of the coaches I admire the most today. If you meet him in a cup match, you’re in trouble, as seen in the final against Manchester City. What I like about Inzaghi is his preference for using two strikers. If you’re Arsenal or Manchester City, you keep possession for so long that sometimes you end up playing against a 3-7 defense. If you play against a team whose wings aren’t open, it becomes very difficult. You have the ball, but if you’re not positioned right, you know there will eventually be a transition, making it hard for you to contain them.”

“I like how this Inter’s 5-3-2 is designed, especially in midfield, where you have Barella, Calhanoglu, and Mkhitaryan, who are good at playing the ball. Upfront, you have Lautaro Martinez returning and Thuram occupying the wings when Dimarco doesn’t drop back, or Dumfries or Darmian, who go wide. They’ve scored crucial goals against Juventus and Milan.”
