Bologna are within touching distance of next seasons Champions League, following a 2-0 win over Napoli at the Stadio Maradona. Goals from Dan Ndoye and Stefan Posch decided the match and extended the Rossoblu’s undefeated streak to 8 matches. Speaking with Sky Sport Italia after the match, Motta expressed his happiness at the performance from his team, saying he doesn’t look at the calculations required to guarantee a place in the top 5:
“During the week, I observe how the boys work. Undoubtedly, today these 11 deserved to start, as did the substitutes. It’s a shame not to be able to field all the players because I have a team with a great desire to achieve important things, and today we put in a great performance that led to a beautiful victory.”
Addressing the chants from fans dreaming of the Champions League, Motta said: “My happiness is seeing this group play. I don’t do calculations, I don’t know how many points the teams ahead of us have. I’m happy for our fans who follow us and enjoy these beautiful moments, supporting the players both in positive and negative moments.”
Regarding the choice of Ravaglia in goal, Motta explained: “Federico deserves to play; we have two great goalkeepers. I trust what I see during the week and in the last few matches. The players make me understand who should take the field, and I am honest with them. Today, he deserved to play, even though Skorupski made great saves in the last game.”
Finally, on Zirkzee’s injury, Motta said: “We need to assess it; I don’t know anything yet. He felt a slight discomfort in his left flexor. We will evaluate calmly and make the best decision.”
