Juventus manager Thiago Motta shared his thoughts on team tactics and player roles in a pre-match interview before the upcoming fixture against Fiorentina.
Addressing the absence of Yildiz from the starting lineup, Motta emphasized the importance of wide players serving striker Dusan Vlahovic. “The wide players need to cut inside to shoot? They must serve Dusan,” Motta explained. “In training, we always tell Mbangula on the left and Conceicao on the right that they need to cross. We need to feed Dusan the ball in the right zone, where he likes it, in the penalty area.”
Regarding Koopmeiners’ position, Motta highlighted the player’s freedom on the pitch. “In that position, he has great freedom. Locatelli and Thuram need to support him from behind. Locatelli has already done it, and Koop is the player who can stay closest to Dusan.”
When asked about Palladino, the manager of Monza, Motta expressed his admiration: “The quality I like most about him? I wish him a great future, and hope he continues the work he’s doing. He did very well with Monza, and now he’s doing very well again. You can see he’s very well-prepared. As a player, he was a top-class number 10 between the lines, and today his team is dangerous. Not just on the counter-attack. They feed the players who make the difference well, the wide players and Gud between the lines. We need to be careful.”
