Following Juventus’ 0-0 draw against Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League, manager Thiago Motta shared his thoughts on the team’s performance. Speaking to Sky Sport, Motta acknowledged the challenges faced by all teams playing at Club Brugge’s home ground.
“All the teams that have played here have had difficulties,” Motta explained. “They defend very well and always leave an extra man at the back. We had difficulties, without suffering much, but we didn’t create enough to win. We could have done better, while respecting the opponent and not taking away their merit because they have caused problems for many teams. We suffered very little, but we didn’t create enough to win.”
When asked about the team’s struggle to break the deadlock, Motta emphasized the need for more contribution from the attacking players. “We suffered very little. Today, after a long time, we have many players available, especially the attackers. These are players I want to see more from, and they need to contribute more.”
Motta praised Manuel Locatelli’s performance and his ability to maintain balance on the field. “Manu knows when to drop back and when to press the opponent. With these game situations, I want to see more from the attackers. Today Samuel tried something more, but I want to see more from the other five.”
The Juventus manager also had high praise for Douglas Luiz, highlighting his technical qualities and fitness level. “He’s a player of superior technical quality, he’s physically fit, and he allows us to rotate in midfield. Lately, he’s been doing well, along with the other midfielders. This allows me to rotate and get the best out of everyone in the many matches we’ll have.”
