The agent of Bologna coach Thiago Motta insists that his client wouldn’t go to Napoli at the end of the season: “He has other plans for his future.” Motta has found himself in demand following a sensational season with the Rossoblu, prompting links with Napoli, Milan and other top European sides.
Speaking with Radio Kiss Kiss, agent Dario Canovi revealed that despite the interest, Napoli would not be a potential destination for the coach, stating:
“Motta does not yet know his future but it certainly won’t be at Napoli. The Bologna coach would not come to Napoli even if De Laurentiis bought him Zirkzee and Calafiori, he has other plans for his future.”
TMW shed some light on what transpired between the parties involved. According to their report, the incident dates back to last summer following the departure of Luciano Spalletti. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis initiated a search for a new coach, which included discussions with Motta, who was still under contract with Bologna at the time. While Napoli’s interest in Motta seemed promising, the outcome took an unexpected turn.
Motta, akin to his dealings with the Saputo family at Bologna, sought reassurances not only regarding sporting and financial aspects but also concerning the club’s management. Allegedly, De Laurentiis failed to provide satisfactory answers, presenting weak arguments and asserting complete control over the club’s affairs. This approach irked Motta, leading him to veto any potential move to Napoli.
