Theo Hernandez’s agent: ‘The Idea is to renew with Milan, but we haven’t talked since May’

In a recent interview with QSVS, Manuel Garcia Quilón, the agent of AC Milan’s star left-back Theo Hernandez, has shed light on the player’s current contract situation and future plans with the club. Quilón’s statements come amid speculation about Hernandez’s potential departure and reported salary demands.

Addressing the rumors of ongoing contract negotiations, Quilón stated, “There is no negotiation. We haven’t talked about anything for four months, since May-June. The club contacted me, asked if we wanted to remain and if we were happy in Milan. We said yes, then there was no further contact.”

The agent firmly denied reports of specific salary demands, particularly the rumored €8 million per year figure. “Has Theo said that? No. What this newspaper says, did Theo say it? No. These are not words that came out of Theo’s mouth,” Quilón emphasized, suggesting that such rumors might be an attempt to influence public opinion.

Regarding Hernandez’s future at AC Milan, Quilón expressed the player’s current contentment: “Today I can tell you that Theo’s main idea is to continue at Milan, reach an agreement, and stay at the club for as long as possible. He wants to grow as much as possible with the club and the team, and have the best season possible.”

However, the agent also acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football, stating, “What will happen in a year’s time? I don’t know. I don’t want to lie to you because I really just don’t know. If he reaches an agreement and extends his contract, then it’s not an issue. If he doesn’t sign a new contract, what happens? I don’t know what could happen, but the idea right now is that Theo is happy at Milan.”

Quilón’s comments come at a time when Hernandez’s performances and behavior on the pitch have been under scrutiny, particularly following recent incidents in matches against Fiorentina and Lazio. Despite these challenges, the agent’s statements suggest that both the player and his representatives are open to continuing their relationship with AC Milan, provided suitable terms can be agreed upon.

As Hernandez’s current contract runs until June 2026, there is still time for both parties to reach an agreement. However, the lack of ongoing negotiations since mid-2024 may raise questions about the club’s long-term plans for the French international.
