Manchester United’s search for a left-back has intensified under new manager Ruben Amorim, with AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez emerging as a top target. The Portuguese coach, who recently deployed Diogo Dalot on the left flank in a draw against Ipswich, is keen to strengthen the position.
Dalot, a former Milan player himself, praised Amorim’s demanding coaching style, stating, “Amorim is a very demanding coach, exactly what we need.” Meanwhile, Amorim expressed his intention to carefully manage Luke Shaw, describing him as “an excellent player, important for our team.”
The Red Devils’ current left-back options include Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, the latter signed from Feyenoord for €15 million in 2022. However, the club is actively exploring the market for reinforcements.
Initially, Manchester United set their sights on Alphonso Davies, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires in June 2025. However, the Canadian international appears destined for a free transfer to Real Madrid, prompting United to shift their focus.
According to reports from Sky Sport Germany, Theo Hernandez has become the primary alternative for Manchester United. The French international, born in 1997, is currently under contract with AC Milan until June 2026, earning €4 million net per year.
