The rise of Bisseck at Inter – Defender expected to renew contract

Start

Yann Bisseck has emerged as one of Inter Milan’s standout performers, as evidenced by his impressive display against Arsenal in the Champions League. Gazzetta dello Sport report how he German defender touched the ball more times than any other player on the pitch, excelled in both offensive and defensive phases, and made crucial blocks. This marks a significant transformation from last season when he had only played three matches at this stage.

Bisseck’s playing style is characterized by his offensive mindset, which he uses to bolster his defensive capabilities. He consistently looks to make forward passes, embarks on runs down the flank, and attempts to break opposition lines. His 64 touches against Arsenal surpassed those of midfield stalwarts like Calhanoglu, Barella, and Frattesi.

The 23-year-old’s journey to becoming a key player for Inter is remarkable. Arriving from Danish club Aarhus in the summer, Bisseck has quickly adapted to the demands of Italian football. Manager Simone Inzaghi praised his performance against Arsenal, noting that Bisseck played through pain after taking painkillers for a rib issue.

Bisseck’s versatility is a significant asset for Inter. He can play on both the right and left side of the defense, and has featured in all of Inter’s Champions League matches this season. His aerial ability has been crucial in defending set-pieces, an area where he has shown considerable improvement through extra training sessions.

While there have been some errors in his game, such as conceding a penalty against Genoa and his involvement in Juventus’ goal, Bisseck’s overall development has been impressive. Compared to last season, when he had played only 53 minutes at this stage, he has now accumulated 381 minutes in Serie A alone.

Inter’s faith in Bisseck was demonstrated when they rejected a €30 million bid from West Ham in the summer. The club’s message was clear: “Bisseck is not for sale.” This confidence appears to be paying off as the young defender continues to grow into a vital component of Inter’s squad.

Tuttosport report that Bisseck is now expected to pen a contract extension with the Nerazzurri, with the official announcement expected in the coming days. The talented centre-back is expected  double his wages from €750,000 to €1.5m plus add-ons.
