Lazio president Claudio Lotito spoke to the media after the recent elective assembly of Serie A, where he addressed the suspension of forward Taty Castellanos, who will miss the crucial match against Inter Milan. Lotito highlighted the club’s progress under coach Marco Baroni while expressing his concerns regarding officiating decisions.
Regarding Castellanos’ suspension, Lotito stated, “I’m not angry about Castellanos’ suspension. Let’s leave that aside; it’s not about being angry or not. The facts are under everyone’s eyes; ask yourself a question and give yourself an answer.” His comments suggest a frustration with the decision and a call for reflection on the circumstances surrounding it.
Lotito also touched on the broader issue of officiating in Serie A, saying, “I don’t want to get into this mechanism because Lazio makes considerations separately; we don’t want to create any alibis. You have to go onto the pitch and give 300%, and then we’ll see what happens. I fight against injustices.” This indicates his commitment to addressing perceived inequities in officiating without making excuses for his team’s performance.
In discussing the team’s recent form, Lotito praised Baroni’s efforts, stating, “Baroni is doing an incredible job with this team. Every year there are many changes in the squad, but he knows how to utilize all the resources available to him.” He emphasized that the club is focused on continuing its upward trajectory.
Lotito also took a moment to reflect on Castellanos’ development this season, saying, “They mocked me when I said that Castellanos was a phenomenon. So what do they have to say now?!”
