Szczesny reveals behind-the-scenes drama in final months at Juventus

In a revealing interview with Luca Toselli on YouTube, former Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny  discussed the final months of his career, shedding light on the summer’s events, his relationship with sporting director Giuntoli, and the surprising decision to leave him out of the squad following Thiago Motta’s arrival in Turin.

Szczesny also shared an anecdote about Juventus’ elimination from the Europa League against Sevilla, offering insight into manager Massimiliano Allegri’s post-match comments. “Allegri said it, I don’t speak Italian well. What can I say? If people don’t know Max… He says nonsense to get out of the question and it’s done,” Szczesny explained.

The goalkeeper clarified that he hadn’t criticized the manager after the game, but rather the team’s approach. “We had approached the match terribly, and it was a Europa League semi-final. We should have had the character to go into such an important game with the joy of playing it without defending the result because we are Juventus,” he stated.

Szczesny expressed his frustration with the team’s performance, saying, “I was very angry. In that game, I saved the team’s ass: it ended in extra time, but it could have easily finished 5 or 6-1. As beautiful as it is to make great saves, after the third or fourth, you get angry.”
