Sunderland overtake Real Betis in pursuit of Roma’s Enzo Le Fée

Start

Recent reports from Sky Sport Italia suggest that Sunderland AFC has overtaken Real Betis in the race to secure Roma midfielder Enzo Le Fée, with the English club aiming to bring him in on loan with an option to buy.

Le Fée, who joined Roma from Rennes last summer for around €23 million, has struggled to find his footing in Italy. Since the arrival of Claudio Ranieri as head coach, his playing time has diminished significantly, with only six appearances in Serie A this season. This lack of opportunity has prompted interest from several clubs, particularly Sunderland, which currently sits fourth in the Championship.

Sunderland’s coach, Régis Le Bris, previously managed Le Fée at Lorient and is keen to reunite with him. The club views Le Fée as a vital addition to their midfield as they look to enhance their squad during this transfer window. Reports suggest that Sunderland is optimistic about finalizing a loan deal that could lead to a permanent transfer if they achieve promotion this season.

On the other hand, Real Betis had initially been in discussions to acquire Le Fée but have reportedly fallen behind Sunderland in the chase. The situation remains fluid as Roma considers its options for the player, who has not made a significant impact since his move to the Stadio Olimpico.
