Sudakov: ‘I watched Juventus and they only play 3-5-2, a system that doesn’t suit me’

Ukrainian talent Georgiy Sudakov revealed that he had official offers from both Juventus and Napoli in the January transfer window. The Bianconeri have reportedly been following the 21-year-old talent for some time, and were keen on acquiring him before the summer. Speaking from the Ukrainian national team camp, the midfielder explained why he chose to remain Shakhtar Donetsk in January, and his hopes for the future of his career:

“Galatasaray, Manchester City, and Barcelona? I don’t know about negotiations with them. However, I do know that last January there were official proposals from Juventus and Napoli: Shakhtar turned down €40 million from Napoli, as told by the club’s CEO, Sergei Anatolyevich Palkin. At first, I was a little disappointed, then I understood the club’s reasons: they obviously want to get more from my sale.”

“I agreed to renew until winter 2028 with a higher salary and very favorable conditions because I trust the president and Palkin. He told me that maybe in 6 months or a year, I will go to Europe.”

“Since this story began, I have also started watching matches: the way of playing counts 100% in choosing my future. I watched Juventus and they only play 3-5-2, a scheme that is not very standard for me. But to reach certain levels, it is not possible to play only in 4-3-3 and 4-4-2. You have to be a creative, versatile, adaptable player. You have to study every day.”
