Stefano Pioli set for Al-Ittihad move

Start

Former Milan manager Stefano Pioli is on the verge of securing a new role as the head coach of Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad. Following positive discussions between the two parties, an agreement appears to be imminent.

Sky Sport Italia report how Pioli, who parted ways with AC Milan at the end of the previous season, could be set for a swift return to management. Wednesday is expected to be a crucial day in finalizing the deal, with only a few details left to be ironed out between Pioli and the club.

The 58-year-old Italian coach is poised to replace Marcelo Gallardo, the former River Plate manager, who is reportedly facing dismissal from Al-Ittihad. If the agreement is reached, this would mark Pioli’s first managerial experience outside of Italy, where he has amassed 871 matches as a coach and won a Serie A title with AC Milan in the 2021/2022 season.

Al-Ittihad, currently featuring high-profile players such as Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté, appears to have set their sights on Pioli to lead the team forward. This move would see Pioli join the growing list of prominent figures in football making the switch to the Saudi Arabian league.
