Roma’s Gini Wijnaldum and Chris Smalling are expected to spend at least a few weeks on the sidelines after picking up injuries last week. The duo were forced to leave the pitch during the Giallorossi’s 4-1 win over Feyenoord last Thursday, with both sustaining thigh injuries, specifically of the flexor muscle.
Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca di Marzio reports that Smalling is expected to miss at least three weeks of the season, but there’s now word yet on Wijnaldum’s recovery time.
It’s a blow for the Dutchman who has already spent most of the season on the sidelines after fracturing his tibia on 20 August 2022, only recently returning to action.
