Sky: No evidence of sporting fraud for Tonali and Zaniolo

Start

Sky Sport Italia report that there is no evidence of Nicolo Zaniolo and Sandro Tonali being involved in sporting fraud as authorities continue their investigation into the ‘scommesse’ case. The betting scandal has shocked Italian football, with Tonali, Zaniolo and Nicolo Fagioli all at the centre of the authorises investigation into alleged illegal betting activity.

Zaniolo and Tonali names both emerged as part of the Fagioli case, as the midfielder’s phone was searched as part of the initial investigation.

The pair have both admitted to having been involved in betting on poker and blackjack, but claim they did not know that the facilities they were using were illegal.

Sky Sport Italia report that despite the ongoing investigation into both players, as yet, no clear evidence of sporting fraud has been found and this is expected to remain the case.

The Turin Public Prosecutors’ office is continuing to examine phones and chat transcripts related to the case, but for the moment, the suggestion is that neither player bet on football matches that involved teams that they were playing for.
