Skriniar unhappy at PSG, Juventus and others eye January move

Start

Milan Skriniar’s difficult start to the season at Paris Saint-Germain has opened the door for a potential January transfer, with Juventus among the clubs interested in the Slovak defender.

Calciomercato report how Skriniar has made just two appearances totaling 111 minutes so far this season, finding himself fourth choice in Luis Enrique’s defensive pecking order behind Marquinhos, Willian Pacho and Lucas Beraldo. The lack of playing time has left the former Inter Milan star frustrated.

“Mentally I’d say I’m fine. I’m not happy with this situation, but the only thing I can control is my work in training,” Skriniar admitted while on international duty with Slovakia. “I have to be ready when needed. I try to be in the best possible shape.”

He added: “I’m happy to be in Paris, but I’m sorry I don’t have more minutes available.”

Skriniar confirmed there was interest from other clubs in the summer, including Napoli and Saudi side Al-Nassr. AC Milan and Roma also reportedly made inquiries. However, a move failed to materialize and he remained at PSG.

With the January window approaching, Juventus are said to be seriously considering a move for Skriniar following Gleison Bremer’s knee injury. Napoli could also revive their interest to bolster Antonio Conte’s defensive options.

The main obstacle is Skriniar’s €9 million annual salary. Juventus are exploring a loan deal with PSG covering part of his wages. This could also make a move feasible for Napoli.

While Skriniar’s PSG future looks uncertain, a return to Serie A in January appears increasingly possible as clubs circle for the unsettled defender. His situation will be one to watch closely when the transfer window reopens.
