Alessandro Moggi, agent of Giovanni Simeone says his client had expectations at Napoli and discussed his healthy rivalry Victor Osimhen. Moggi was speaking during an appearance on Radio CRC’s program “Si Gonfia la Rete” and talked about the Partenopei striker and the upcoming match between Napoli and Genoa:
“Napoli-Genoa? I believe Napoli remains a good team. There are objectively some deficiencies in terms of the squad and motivations. Last year’s victory may lead to a lack of motivation among players who achieved great success last year. Mazzarri will have the opportunity to improve in terms of results. Results stimulate the desire to do better. Assuming Napoli has an excellent squad overall, they can compete for the fourth spot. Did Simeone expect more this season? This is a team sport; if the team doesn’t perform in terms of results and performances, it also affects individuals. If we look at Osimhen’s performance between last year and this year, there’s a difference. I believe Napoli’s goal should be to regroup as a team.
“Napoli-Genoa? There are no easy games in Italy; just look at the recent Juventus-Udinese match. There’s no such thing as a guaranteed win from the start. For Genoa, 12th place is an important target at present. It’s important to emphasize that Genoa is a newly promoted team, and this is credit to the coach and the club. The healthy competition between Simeone and Osimhen? When you win, there’s a mix of everything, from the group dynamics to the quality of the squad, to the eleven players of great caliber, and in Napoli’s case, even the so-called substitutes who have proven to be of the same value. It’s understandable that the year after winning the title can be challenging; I remember after the 1990 title, where the team didn’t perform. Mazzarri is an excellent leader of the group. Something may still be missing, but I believe results will gradually come with the fully reconstituted group, bringing back motivation. Regarding healthy competition, it always remains. It’s a team sport, and if the team doesn’t perform collectively, neither can the individuals. I am confident for the continuation of the season.”
