Sevilla vice-president José María del Nido Carrasco believes ‘Juventus will not be happy to have to challenge us’ in the Europa League. The La Liga side will face the Bianconeri on 11 May, with Juve on a run of dreadful form, having won just once in their last seven matches in all competitions. Speaking with Tuttosport (as quoted by IlBianconero), Carrasco explained why Sevilla would make sure that ‘ no one leaves the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán alive’, as ‘no one wants to play us’:
“We have to go to Turin with the ambition of getting a good result and then, on the return leg, with the atmosphere that there was against Manchester United, make sure that no one leaves the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán alive.”
“It is normal for us to enjoy these kinds of matches. Being one of the four best clubs in the Europa League is something the fans are proud of. Nobody wants to face Sevilla in the Europa League because of these numbers. Every time we have faced them in the quarterfinals, we have won the competition. Juventus will not be happy to have to challenge us.”
“The possibility of winning the Europa League is there. The worst is over. With most of the players available, fewer injuries and good management, the team will win as many games as possible. We all know how complicated it will be because of the value of the rivals. But Manchester United was also strong, and certainly Juventus was not happy when they learned they would face Sevilla, the club that has won the competition the most times, in the semifinals.”
