Serie A | Verona v Torino: Match Preview

Start

Torino will look to maintain their strong start to the Serie A season when they visit Hellas Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi on Friday evening. The visitors currently sit fifth in the table with 8 points from their opening 4 matches, while Verona have had an up-and-down beginning with 2 wins and 2 losses.

Hellas Verona have alternated between victories and defeats so far this campaign. They stunned Napoli 3-0 on opening day before losing to Juventus and then beating Genoa. Most recently, they fell 2-1 away to Lazio despite an equalizer from striker Casper Tengstedt.

Manager Paolo Zanetti has improved Verona’s attacking efficiency, with the team boasting the best shot conversion rate in Serie A at 18%. However, they have struggled historically against Torino, scoring just twice in their last six league meetings.

Team News

Torino remain undefeated through four matches under new coach Paolo Vanoli. They opened with draws against AC Milan and Lecce while securing wins over Atalanta and Venezia. The Granata have benefited from some good fortune, facing the most shots in the league (84) but conceding only 3 goals thanks in large part to goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.

Verona will be without several injured players including Ondrej Duda, Martin Frese, Suat Serdar and Juan Manuel Cruz. Midfielder Abdou Harroui faces a late fitness test. For Torino, defenders Mergim Vojvoda and Perr Schuurs are sidelined while Saul Coco is doubtful.

Expected Starting XIs
