Serie A | Verona v Milan: Probable starting lineups

Start

AC Milan’s injury woes continue to mount as they prepare to face Hellas Verona in Serie A. The Rossoneri, already grappling with a lengthy list of absentees, have now lost Swiss forward Noah Okafor to a calf problem, ruling him out until next month.

The growing injury list includes key players such as Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Luka Jovic, Ismael Bennacer, and Alessandro Florenzi. This crisis has forced manager Paulo Fonseca to consider alternative lineup options for the upcoming match.

One of the key decisions facing Fonseca is whether to recall potential Manchester United target Theo Hernandez at left-back. The French international was surprisingly dropped in favor of Spanish teenager Alex Jimenez in the previous match. Additionally, 17-year-old Mattia Liberali, who made his Serie A debut against Genoa, may make way for more experienced options.

Despite the injury setbacks, Milan will look to their talismanic winger Rafael Leao for inspiration. The Portuguese international, who recently wore the captain’s armband, will aim to improve his goal tally in Serie A, having scored just three times this season—all away from home.

On the opposing side, Hellas Verona have their own selection dilemmas. Daniel Mosquera, who has earned a reputation as a super-sub with four goals off the bench this season, may be in contention for a starting role. However, he faces competition from Amin Sarr, Dailon Livramento, and Casper Tengstedt, with the latter recovering from a minor calf issue.

Verona will be without Juan Cruz and Martin Frese due to injuries, while Abdou Harroui’s season has come to a premature end after suffering an ACL injury last weekend.

Hellas Verona (3-4-2-1): Montipo; Dawidowicz, Coppola, Ghilardi; Tchatchoua, Duda, Belahyane, Lazovic; Suslov, Tengstedt; Sarr

AC Milan (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Emerson, Gabbia, Thiaw, Jimenez; Fofana, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Morata, Leao; Abraham
