Italy’s Mateo Retegui delivered a stunning performance, scoring four goals to lead Atalanta to a dominant 5-0 victory over Hellas Verona at the Stadio Bentegodi. This win solidifies Atalanta’s hold on third place in the Serie A table.
Atalanta, eager to bounce back from a recent cup exit and a lackluster performance in their previous six league matches, found their stride against Verona. Retegui, a key player for La Dea, showcased his scoring prowess with a hat-trick in the first half and another goal after halftime.
The scoring began in the 21st minute when Retegui capitalized on a rebound after a teammate’s shot hit the post. Shortly after, Retegui scored again, this time assisted by a well-placed pass.
